OUR URGENT NEED

The Russian government in 2020 decided it was “better” to house the orphans in state run institutions until they are 23 years of age. This change is not in the best interest of the orphan for several reasons:

• Institutional living negatively affects a child’s social behavior and interaction with others, as well as negatively affecting the formation of emotional attachments.

• Being institutionalized is linked to poor cognitive performance and language defects.

The longer the children reside in the orphanage, the longer the abuse and marginalization continues, further extinguishing their ability to survive on their own in the real world.

To counteract this destructive policy we feel the urgent need to provide a TRAINING CENTER in our city where teens from several orphanages can gather for personal growth and interaction with our loving staff.

Not only will the teens be trained for various career paths and trades for supplemental income while advancing their education, our training center will also introduce them to The Harbor in a positive way, showing the teens there is a safe alternative to remaining at the orphanage or living on the streets.

Above all … we will be able to share the love of God with more of Russia’s orphan teens from an earlier age.
